Pregnancy Massage

Massage during pregnancy can be hugely beneficial for the mum-to-be. Massage can help manage symptoms and help your client stay drug free during pregnancy.

The changes which occur to the mothers’ body can cause increased pressure on joints, ligaments, muscles and organs.  This can cause pain and discomfort.  Pregnancy massage can help to alleviate these aches and pains as well as relieve stress due to the calming effects if brings.  During the massage the unborn baby can also benefit as the mother release the feel good endorphins which are passed onto the baby.  Often the baby will become more active, kicking and moving during the massage.

Common areas of aches and pain during pregnancy include; low back and pelvis, legs (due to increased load on the joints), upper back and shoulder.

Benefits of pregnancy massage

  • Stimulation of circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Aid sluggish bowel movements
  • Release muscular tension and nerve compression
  • Induce deep relaxation and aid breathing
  • Reduce blood pressure and pulse rate
  • Increase oxytocin (the pain relieving hormone) which is crucial during labour and birth

It is our aim to help provide an essential care of expectant mothers and their baby and we can help you to navigate this journey through our pregnancy massage service.  We can perform this service during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters only (approx. 14 weeks) and help your body cope with the changes that will occur.

Prior to first appointment please ensure you have clearance from your GP or Midwife as to whether you are able to undergo this treatment.  If we feel (due to certain criteria) we cannot perform the massage, we will recommend visiting you GP or midwife for full medical clearance and check-up.
